PM Modi’s Self-Reliant India Vision Earning Farmers’ Trust: A Ground Report by Jan Jagran Darpan

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s continuous push for a self-reliant India and the use of Indian-made (Swadeshi) products is gaining strong support from farmers across the country. Our team spoke to several beneficiaries after the release of the 20th installment of the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, and their voices reflect both appreciation and trust in this initiative.

On Saturday, from Varanasi, PM Modi transferred over Rs 20,500 crore directly into the bank accounts of more than 9.7 crore farmers under the PM-Kisan scheme. Farmers watching the event live cheered as they received messages of the funds being credited.

Speaking to Jan Jagran Darpan, Vijay Kumar Upadhyay from Mau village in Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh, said, “The money we receive helps us buy seeds, fertilisers, and manage water supply. It always comes when we need it most.”

Another farmer, Rambriksh Gautam from Kartihan village, echoed this, saying the scheme eases the burden of recurring farming costs. “This support feels like someone truly understands our struggles,” he said.

In Haryana’s Karnal, a special programme was held at the NDRI auditorium where State Agriculture Minister Shyam Singh Rana interacted with farmers and watched the PM’s virtual address. Speaking at the event, he described the PM-Kisan scheme as a lifeline for farmers, especially those owning small plots of land.

“Even those farming on just one or two kanals (a very small area) benefit from this scheme,” he added.

The minister also pointed out how the Prime Minister is focusing on the different needs of farmers in various states. He said that while countries like the USA protect their trade interests strictly, India is now also standing firm to protect its economic priorities.

“Our country has a market of over 140 crore people, and foreign countries are watching us. But India will not bend under any kind of international pressure,” he said confidently.

India is becoming stronger economically, and as per the minister, under PM Modi’s leadership, India is set to become the third-largest economy in the world.

He encouraged people to strengthen the country by using more Indian-made products and supporting the Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India) and Make in India campaigns.

Farmers like Rinku, also present at the event, said, “This scheme is like a timely helping hand. We receive Rs 6,000 per year, in three parts, and it really helps us run our farms better.”

Jan Jagran Darpan’s Opinion:

The PM-Kisan scheme is more than just financial aid; it is a message of recognition and respect for India’s food growers. With direct bank transfers, timely assistance, and a national call to support local products, the government seems to be paving the way for a new age of self-reliant farming.

The voices we heard during our reporting show a deepening bond between farmers and the state – a partnership that could shape the future of rural India if strengthened consistently.
