22.84 lakh cases pending in Jharkhand SIR, over half of ‘No Mapping’ records yet to be verified

Ranchi, Nov 4 — With only 26 days to go for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Jharkhand to be completed, a substantial number of voter records are yet to be verified and updated.

Of the 59.53 lakh cases identified under the categories of "No Mapping" and "Logical Discrepancy", only 36.69 lakh have been resolved so far, leaving 22.84 lakh cases pending.

They include 7.95 lakh "No Mapping cases" and 14.88 lakh "Logical Discrepancy" cases.

According to data released by Jharkhand Chief Electoral Officer K. Ravi Kumar, as of November 4, the state recorded 14,04,033 "No Mapping" cases, of which only 6,08,618 have been disposed of and updated on the ECINet portal, representing 43.35 per cent of the total.

As a result, 7,95,415 cases in this category remain unresolved.

The performance has been comparatively better in the "Logical Discrepancy" category. Out of 45,49,961 such cases identified across the state, 30,61,159 cases, or 67.28 per cent, have been resolved. However, 14,88,802 cases are still pending verification and correction.

Under the "No Mapping" category, election authorities verify records of voters whose names, or those of their family members, could not be linked to the 2003 electoral roll.

"Logical Discrepancy" cases involve scrutiny of inconsistencies between old and current voter records, including abnormal age gaps between parents and children or discrepancies in family relationship details.

District-wise figures show that West Singhbhum has achieved the highest disposal rate in "No Mapping" cases at 96.16 per cent, followed by Lohardaga (80.04 per cent), Deoghar (75.25 per cent), Ramgarh (63.19 per cent) and Gumla (61.01 per cent).

In contrast, Giridih (19.52 per cent), Sahibganj (21.03 per cent), Palamu (25.25 per cent), Pakur (28.86 per cent), and Ranchi (29.03 per cent) have recorded the lowest progress.

In the "Logical Discrepancy" category, West Singhbhum (99.72 per cent) and Lohardaga (99.08 per cent) lead the state, while Pakur (45.88 per cent), Sahibganj (48.57 per cent), Palamu (49.55 per cent), Ranchi (52.02 per cent) and Garhwa (54.63 per cent) remain among the weaker performers.

The state has, however, made significant progress in the “Other Category”, completing 97.91 per cent of the work. Out of 1.61 crore cases, 1.58 crore have already been processed and updated on ECINet.

Lohardaga has achieved 100 per cent completion, while West Singhbhum, Deoghar, Chatra, and Khunti have also recorded near-total completion rates.

Chief Electoral Officer K. Ravi Kumar has directed districts with low disposal rates to accelerate the verification process. He has asked district election officials to conduct regular reviews and implement special action plans to ensure the timely completion of pending hearings and verification work before the SIR deadline.
