Itanagar, Sep 16 — Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen K.T. Parnaik (Retd) on Wednesday visited the North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST) campus and said that the entire Northeast region looks towards the institute with great expectations for its contribution to education, research and technological development.
The Governor interacted with the Deans and Heads of Departments of NERIST at its campus and described the organisation as a premier technical institution with a distinguished legacy and immense potential, adding that the people of Arunachal Pradesh and the entire North East look towards the institute with great expectations.
Emphasising that technology will shape the future of humanity, the Governor said that the rapidly changing global environment presents both opportunities and challenges. He urged the academic leadership of NERIST to remain ahead of the curve and prepare students to respond effectively to emerging technological, economic and societal demands.
Lt Gen Parnaik (Retd) said that the future belongs to those who innovate, adapt and create solutions for real-world problems. The Governor, as the President of the NERIST Society, emphasised that the institution must strive to produce graduates who are technologically competent, innovative and socially responsible. He said that young minds should become creators of opportunities, entrepreneurs, researchers and leaders who can contribute to the progress of Arunachal Pradesh and the nation.
The Governor encouraged the Deans and Heads of Departments to inspire students to pursue excellence in emerging fields, particularly Artificial Intelligence, advanced technologies, research and innovation.
Referring to recent adverse developments on the campus, the Governor underscored the importance of integrity, transparency and collective responsibility. He said that every member of the NERIST fraternity must work with honesty, dedication and a shared commitment to the institution’s growth.
“Our ultimate aim must be to take NERIST to greater heights of excellence and national relevance,” he underscored.
Reaffirming his unwavering support, the Governor assured the institute of his full commitment and assistance in strengthening NERIST as a centre of technological excellence, innovation and nation-building.
Director, NERIST, Prof. Narendranath S, and In-charge Registrar, NERIST, Prof. Sarsing Gao were also present in the meeting.
