BJP's youth outreach strategy to focus on direct engagement, social media connect

New Delhi, Aug 29 — Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Nitin Nabin, on Saturday, chaired a meeting at the party headquarters in the national capital to chalk out a strategy for strengthening the party's "direct communication" with youth across the country, particularly through social media and youth-oriented outreach programmes.

The meeting was attended by Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma, Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari, BJP General Secretary Smriti Irani, former Union Minister Anurag Thakur, along with several young MPs and MLAs.

During the meeting, senior party leaders deliberated on ways to increase direct interaction with young people. They discussed methods to ensure that the BJP’s outreach remains focused on issues and aspirations relevant to the younger generation.

According to an official statement, a key decision taken during the meeting is to assign two to three senior party leaders in every state the responsibility of engaging with youth and strengthening communication with them. These leaders are expected to undertake structured outreach and highlight issues concerning young people.

The party also discussed a strategy to use social media platforms more effectively in order to reach the youth, with an emphasis on communicating the government’s initiatives, achievements and opportunities available to young Indians, the statement said.

According to the strategy discussed at the meeting, the BJP will place greater emphasis on highlighting the work and schemes undertaken for young people during the last 12 years. Programmes such as MY Bharat, the National Service Scheme (NSS), the Prime Minister’s Internship Scheme and Startup India are expected to feature prominently in the party’s youth outreach campaign.

The meeting also discussed programmes regarding 'Sewa Sankalp Mahotsava', planned to mark 25 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s public life. Youth participation and engagement are expected to be an important component of these programmes.

The BJP is also likely to hold another virtual meeting in the first week of September to take forward the decisions and strategy discussed during Saturday’s meeting.

The broader objective of the party is to establish a stronger and more direct connect between the BJP and young people, while creating greater awareness among the youth about government initiatives, employment and entrepreneurship opportunities, volunteer programmes and other schemes aimed at them.

The latest exercise reflects the BJP’s renewed organisational focus on the youth, with the party seeking to strengthen both its on-ground outreach and digital engagement with young Indians.
