CM Vijay congratulates two Tamil Nadu teachers selected for national award

Chennai, Aug 22 — Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay on Saturday congratulated two teachers from the State who have been selected for the National Teachers’ Award, describing the recognition as a matter of pride for the state and its teaching community.

The awardees are Thangaraj, a teacher at the Puliyampatti Panchayat Union Primary School, and Amudha, a teacher at PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya in Madurai. They will receive the prestigious awards from the President of India as part of the Teachers’ Day celebrations.

In a statement, Vijay extended his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to both teachers. He said their selection for the national honour was a recognition of their dedication to education, innovative teaching practices and concern for the welfare and development of students.

The Chief Minister noted that teachers perform the noble and vital responsibility of shaping the future of children. Their contribution, he said, extends beyond classroom instruction, as they help nurture confidence, curiosity, discipline and social responsibility among students.

Vijay said the achievements of Thangaraj and Amudha had brought greater pride to Tamil Nadu’s record of educational excellence. Their recognition also reflected positively on the wider teaching fraternity, whose sustained efforts play a crucial role in improving learning outcomes and preparing younger generations for the future.

He expressed hope that the national award would provide the two teachers with renewed motivation to continue their work with greater commitment and inspire many others in the profession. Their example, he added, could encourage teachers across the State to adopt creative methods of instruction and place student welfare at the centre of education.

The Chief Minister also wished that their service would continue to illuminate the lives of countless students in the years ahead. He said the honour demonstrated how committed educators working at the school level could make a lasting difference to children and the communities they serve.

The National Teachers’ Awards are presented annually on Teachers’ Day to recognise educators who have made notable contributions to improving the quality of school education and enriching the lives of their students.

The recognition is expected to encourage further innovation and sustained commitment among educators across the State’s schools. The selection of the two teachers has drawn attention to their work and highlighted Tamil Nadu’s contribution to the country’s education sector.
