Ahmedabad, Aug 27 — The Ahmedabad City Police have arrested a 22-year-old Rajasthan resident and seized 234.01 grams of cocaine, valued at Rs 1.17 crore, from his possession in the Naroda area, officials said on Thursday.

The accused was identified as Naresh Sain, a casual labourer from Malwada village in Jalore district of Rajasthan.

Police said the cocaine was being carried without a pass or permit and that the total value of the seized property, including other articles, was Rs 1,17,24,510.

Based on the information, Surveillance PSI K.S. Kumpavat, surveillance personnel and panch witnesses set up a watch near Sanjay Gandhinagar Society.

Police said the suspect matching the description was spotted walking from the Nana Chiloda Circle towards the society and was apprehended.

A black and grey travelling bag bearing the word “CARQIMAIE” and containing clothes was also seized. Police have named two other persons in connection with the case who have not yet been arrested.

They are Ravi Kumar, who allegedly ordered the consignment, and an unidentified person who allegedly supplied the narcotic substance from Udaipur.

Naroda police station has registered a case under Sections 8(c), 21(c) and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
