Mehsana, Sep 3 — Gujarat Police’s State Monitoring Cell (SMC) has raided four spas and a guesthouse in Mehsana district over alleged prostitution activities being operated under the guise of spa and guesthouse services, arresting seven people and naming six others as wanted, officials said on Thursday.
The raids were conducted at five establishments falling under the jurisdiction of Mehsana Taluka Police Station.
Police said women were allegedly kept at the premises after being offered financial benefits from customers and that the spas were being used as brothels.
Property worth a total of Rs 2,17,100 was seized during the operations. Cases have been registered under various provisions of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956, and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
At Apple One Spa, located on the third floor of Krishna Complex opposite The Grand Takshak Hotel on Mehsana-Nugar Bypass Road, police arrested manager Lokesh Patidar, a resident of Dungarpur in Rajasthan. Two mobile phones and Rs 3,700 in cash were seized.
The total value of the seized property was stated as Rs 13,700. A case was registered under Sections 3, 4 and 5 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act.
At The Moon Light Spa, situated in Samarth Complex near Panchot Bridge on Mehsana Bypass Highway Road, manager Akash Ramavat of Barmer district in Rajasthan, was arrested.
Police seized a mobile phone, a DVR, 10 condoms, a register and Rs 2,000 in cash, with the total value of the seized property put at Rs 7,000.
Spa partner Tejaskumar Raval and Hasina Abad Raun of Mumbai, who police said had taken the spa through a sale agreement, were named as wanted accused.
The case was registered under Sections 3, 4 and 5 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act and Section 54 of the BNS. Two people were arrested in the raid at Golden Spa, located on the third floor of Aakar Avenue near D-Mart and Panchot village crossroad.
They were identified as Sunil Thakor of Patan and Rohitsinh Parmar of Mehsana. Three mobile phones, two rent agreements, five condoms, visiting cards, cash and other articles worth Rs 63,000 were seized.
Poonam Raval of Patan was named as a wanted accused. Police registered a case under Sections 3, 4 and 5 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act and Section 54 of the BNS.
At The Luxury Beauty and Spa, on the second floor of Avadh Plaza Complex on Mehsana Bypass Road, police arrested spa operator Ajaykumar Prajapati of Patan.
Two mobile phones, a pen drive, two condoms, cash and other property worth Rs 84,900 were seized. Yash Raval of Mehsana, identified as the spa operator, was named as a wanted accused.
A case was registered under Sections 3, 4 and 5 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act and Section 54 of the BNS. The fifth raid was conducted at Hotel Madhuvan Guest House at Dev Business Point near Nugar Circle on Mehsana Bypass.
Two people, Lalsinh Prithvisinh Rav and Vishal Rameshwar Joshi, both staying at the guesthouse and originally from Dungarpur in Rajasthan, were arrested.
Police seized four mobile phones, 35 condoms, a DVR, a register, cash and other property valued at Rs 48,500.
Arvind Patidar of Dungarpur and Vejji Patidar of Dungarpur were named as wanted accused. The case was registered under Sections 3, 4, 5 and 7 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act.
The SMC said its teams conduct action against illegal activities across Gujarat.
The latest raids were carried out after information was received about alleged prostitution activities at the five establishments. Investigation into the cases is continuing.
