Ranchi, Aug 14 — The Jharkhand CID has intensified its investigation into the alleged irregularities and malpractice in the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) examinations, launching a manhunt for seven accused persons who are absconding.
So far, 22 persons have already been arrested in connection with the case, while CID teams are conducting raids across several districts to nab the remaining suspects.
According to the investigating agency, efforts are underway to gather information about the possible hideouts, fugitives’ associates, and contacts.
The CID believes that the arrest and interrogation of the absconding accused could reveal additional links in the examination-rigging network.
The seven wanted individuals include Aditya Pandey, Pawan Kumar Singh, Ravishankar Kumar, Santosh Kumar Singh, Sanand Prakash, Lalu Kumar Yadav, and Saurabh Kumar Pandey.
CID teams are carrying out raids at various locations to secure their arrest.
One of the most significant developments in the case has been the arrest of former JPSC Chairman L. Khiangte. The CID has also arrested several other key accused, including former Deputy Examination Controller Shweta Kumari Gupta, Manoj Kumar Tiwari alias Abhay Kumar Tiwari, director of the examination-conducting agency TDPL, the agency’s marketing manager Ramveer Singh, and technical programmers Mohammad Usman and Mohammad Ebad.
Investigations have further revealed the alleged involvement of personnel associated with the examination agency as well as employees of the commission.
The CID has also arrested Hemant Verma, Pradeep Kumar Singh, Sanjay Kumar, Sonu Kumar, and JPSC employee Umesh Kumar, among others.
Also, Arvind Kumar, said to be linked to the main accused Abhay Tiwari, has been taken into custody.
The investigation has also uncovered the alleged role of agents and certain candidates who are suspected of using unfair means to clear the examinations.
The CID has arrested Budheshwar Bhagat, Ramesh Kumar, and Umakant Oraon. Besides, selected candidates including Roshan Kerketta, Manoj Kumar, and Rakshak Singh have also been arrested on allegations of securing success in the examinations through fraudulent or unfair practices.
The probe has now expanded to cover individuals linked to other companies involved in the examination process. The agency recently arrested Mithilesh Singh, alias R.K. Singh, from Delhi. He is reportedly associated with ICN India, a company linked to examination operations. Similarly, Arun Sharma, director of Binsys Technologies, was arrested in Mumbai.
During the investigation, the CID has recovered several documents and pieces of evidence related to the examinations, including carbon copies of OMR sheets.
The agency is currently conducting scrutiny and cross-verification of these carbon copies with the original records to determine whether any answers were altered, whether there was unauthorized intervention, or whether other irregularities occurred during the examination process.
