Hyderabad, Sep 8 — Hyderabad Police registered a case against Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President, K.T. Rama Rao, BRS Deputy Leader in Telangana Assembly, T. Harish Rao, and several other party legislators in connection with Monday’s incidents at the Assembly's entrance. The BRS legislators have been booked for allegedly obstructing and assaulting police.
According to the FIR filed by Detective Inspector M Balaswamy, the leaders wearing black T-shirts with political slogans written on them, tried to force entry despite security restrictions imposed on the Speaker's orders. They allegedly abused women Constables, threatened staff, caught policemen by the collar and pushed QRT personnel.
Former ministers Jagdish Reddy, Gangula Kamalakar, Sabitha Indra Reddy and Sunitha Lakshma Reddy, legislators Padi Kaushik Reddy, Shambipur Raju, Sanjay, Vijayudu, Sudheer Reddy and Kova Lakshmi were among the leaders named in the FIR.
The case has been booked at Saifabad Police Station under Section 121(1), 132, 74, 79, 351, 352, 353 r/w 3(5) of the BNS.
The Sections relate to offences like causing hurt to a public servant on duty; assault or use of criminal force against a woman with the intent, or knowledge, that it will outrage her modesty; gesture intended to insult the modesty of a woman; criminal intimidation; intentional insult and making false statements conducing to public mischief.
Two MLCs of the BRS were on Tuesday arrested by the police for allegedly making derogatory and abusive remarks against Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar.
MLCs Tata Madhusudan alias Madhu and N. Naveen Kumar Reddy were arrested from their houses on Tuesday morning.
A case was registered against them on a complaint filed by Pollepalli Venkatesham, Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the Assembly Speaker.
The complainant stated that the Speaker, who belongs to the Scheduled Caste (Madiga) community, was intentionally insulted, humiliated and demeaned in public view before journalists, electronic media crews, Assembly staff and security personnel.
It was also alleged that the remarks were made with full knowledge of his social background and were aimed at lowering his personal and constitutional standing.
Based on the complaint, Saifabad Police registered a case under Section 352 r/w 3(5) BNS and Sections 3(1)(r), 3(2)(va), 3(2)(vii) of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
Meanwhile, cases have also been booked against 291 leaders and workers of the BJP who tried to lay siege to the Assembly to protest over the fee reimbursement issue. Four members of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have also been booked.
A case has been registered with regard to the damage to the windshield of a police vehicle carrying BJP state president N. Ramchander Rao, who was detained during the protest near the Assembly.
A couple of protestors had climbed on to the police vehicle carrying Ramchander Rao, resulting in damage to the vehicle.
