Hyderabad, Aug 6 — Leaders cutting across political parties paid rich tributes to Telangana ideologue K. Jayashankar on his birth anniversary on Thursday.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, state ministers and leaders of Congress and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) recalled the key role played by the former vice-chancellor of Kakatiya University in the Telangana movement.
Public representatives and officials offered tributes to the late leader at various programmes held across the state.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said that the people of Telangana will forever remember professor Jayashankar’s invaluable contribution during the Telangana movement and the formation of a separate state of Telangana.
The Chief Minister recalled that Telangana ideologue Jayashankar toiled tirelessly throughout his life to the cause of a separate Telangana state.
The Chief Minister described Jayashankar as a towering personality who lived and fought for Telangana until he breathed his last. He praised the Telangana ideologue for dedicating his entire life for Telangana statehood.
The Chief Minister noted that it was Jayashankar who kept the movement for separate Telangana alive for six decades by articulating the injustice faced by the region and the discrimination endured by its people with statistical evidence to the nation. The ideological strength and Jayashankar’s direction during the Telangana struggle remain unforgettable and affirmed that the people's government is committed to realising his ideals.
BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao paid tributes to Jayashankar and said he was the guiding light of the Telangana movement, who lived with the goal of achieving Telangana statehood and the movement as his very breath.
K.T. Rama Rao posted on ‘X’ that the great Acharya Kothapalli Jayashankar dedicated his entire life solely to the cause of achieving the state of Telangana.
“To the movement's leader KCR Garu, Jayashankar Sir was like a guru. By spreading the spirit of Telangana and igniting the flame of awareness among the people, Jayashankar Sir became a beacon for Telangana,” he said.
K. T. Rama Rao said that in recognition of his services, the BRS government named Bhupalapalli district and the agricultural college after Jayashankar.
BRS organised a programme at its headquarters Telangana Bhavan to pay tributes to Jayashankar.
Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, said Jayashankar had dedicated his entire life to Telangana.
Telangana Rakshana Sena led by K. Kavitha is organising a public meeting at Saroornagar in Hyderabad to pay tributes to Jayashankar and to demand social justice.
