Municipal Council executive officer found dead in Bihar, probe underway

Aurangabad, Aug 2 — In a shocking incident reported from Bihar's Aurangabad, the executive officer of the state's Dehri-Dalmianagar Municipal Council died after being found injured under suspicious circumstances near the Dhanauti Bridge within the Barun police station area of the district, officials said on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Vimal Kumar.

Speaking to reporters, Rohtas District Magistrate Deepak Kumar Mishra said: "At around 10:30 p.m. last night, we received information that the executive officer of Dehri Municipal Council had been injured. As soon as the information was received, he was taken to the hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. Thereafter, an inquest was conducted."

"Following the inquest, a medical board was constituted at Sadar Hospital, and the post-mortem was carried out under videography. Further action will be taken based on the post-mortem report," he added.

While the incident occurred in Aurangabad, the DM said that police personnel from both Aurangabad and Rohtas have jointly started their probe into the incident.

"Strictest possible action will be taken against those guilty," he asserted.

Mishra further said that Vimal Kumar's driver has been detained and he was being questioned by Aurangabad police.

Meanwhile, the victim's brother Anil Agarwal alleged: "This is not an accident but a murder, a pre-planned murder."

On being asked if he doubted anyone, the brother replied: "Only the driver was accompanying my brother at that time, no one else. He was alone."

In a similar case that came to light last month, former Rahu Panchayat Mukhiya Sanjay Kumar Yadav was found dead under suspicious circumstances near a tubewell in Raghopur village under the Bihta police station area of Patna district, police said.

The incident had triggered tension in the locality. The family members of the deceased alleged that Sanjay was murdered. They, along with local residents, staged a road blockade in protest.

According to police, local residents heading to nearby fields noticed the body lying near the tubewell and immediately informed the Bihta Police Station and the victim's family. A police team reached the spot, secured the area, and began an investigation.
