Ayodhya, Sep 18 — Reacting to actress Swara Bhaskar's controversial statement on the Ram temple case verdict, former Babri Masjid-Ram Janmabhoomi litigant Iqbal Ansari said on Friday that the court judgment on the Ram temple was announced by the Supreme Court, and people across the country respected the decision given by the apex court. He also added that there were no communal disharmony anywhere in the country following the verdict.
Ansari said, "The Ram Temple verdict was a court decision, and people across the country respected it. Not even a leaf was disturbed anywhere in the country."
He added that digging the past can do no good to the country.
Speaking to IANS, Ansari said that speaking on the matter should be avoided because the court judgment has already come.
"If anyone says anything regarding the Ram Temple verdict, it should be avoided, because people across the country had respected the decision of the court," he added.
"The decision has come, Ram Mandir has been built, prayers and rituals have been completed, people flock to the temple with complete devotion. Swara Bhaskar should avoid speaking on the matter, because all the people of the country have accepted the verdict respectfully," Ansari said.
The former Babri Masjid-Ram Janmabhoomi litigant said, "When all the people are coming and worshipping the deity, when there is no bias or discrimination… Raising an issue of the past can bring no good, because we are residents of Ayodhya. We want Hindus and Muslims of the region to live in peace together with communal harmony. Lord Ram was born there. Hindus should be able to worship the deity."
According to reports, actor Swara Bhaskar courted controversy after she said in a recent interview that the 2019 Supreme Court verdict on Ram Janmabhoomi gave her a lot of pain and that she was really upset about it because she felt it was very unfair.
Adding that she personally texted all the Muslim people in her contact list and sought their forgiveness.
She added that she even messaged major stars like Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan.
She went on to say in the interview that she felt ashamed and that she did not agree to the Supreme Court's verdict.
