Pune, Sep 4 — NCP president and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar on Thursday, in her response to NCP (SP) working president and MP Supriya Sule, said that no one can understand the void and pain left by the demise of Nationalist Congress Party leader Ajit Pawar better than his own family.
Therefore, she added that no one should attempt to repeatedly come before the media and politicise his death.
Following the filing of an FIR against MNS youth leader Amit Thackeray in connection with the removal of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's photo in Pune college, Sule on Wednesday cited Ajit Pawar's plane accident and raised the point that the government has not yet filed an FIR in that case. Reacting to this, Sunetra Pawar indirectly targeted Sule.
Speaking to the media, Sunetra Pawar said that Ajit Pawar's passing has brought a dark cloud over the entire state of Maharashtra. Everyone expects the truth behind this tragedy to come out and the investigation findings to be announced as soon as possible.
"We are continuously striving for a thorough probe into this matter. We have met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister, and other senior leaders to present our stand. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has also given his word in the Legislative Assembly regarding this and is making efforts to fulfil it. Investigating agencies are doing their job; we have full faith in the law, the Constitution, and the agencies, and it is necessary to give them the required time," she stated.
She further added that repeatedly raising questions in front of the media does not guarantee new information or updates every time. One must also consider whether frequent discussions lead to a media trial.
Asking an emotional question—who could feel the pain of his loss more than Ajit Pawar's mother, wife, and children—Sunetra Pawar stated that they, too, wish for the investigation into the plane crash to conclude at the earliest. However, she appealed that no one should play politics over this tragic incident.
Sule on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on the Maharashtra state government and the ruling NCP faction, raising sharp questions over the lack of progress and non-registration of an FIR in the fatal plane crash of her brother and former Deputy Chief Minister, late Ajit Pawar.
Addressing a press conference at the party office in Thane, Sule drew a stark contrast between the swift police action against Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) leader Amit Thackeray and the perceived official apathy surrounding Ajit Pawar's tragic death.
Reacting to the case registered against MNS leader Amit Thackeray for removing a photograph of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sule questioned the government's priorities.
"When a photograph of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is removed, a case is registered against Amit Thackeray within two hours. On the other hand, no FIR has been lodged yet in the death case of my brother Ajit Pawar," she remarked.
NCP SP legislator Rohit Pawar has been at the forefront of reminding the state government about the CID probe into the plane crash in which Ajit Pawar died on January 28 in Baramati and what happened to the CBI investigation into the case.
