New Delhi, Sept 8 — Delhi Police's Anti-Jail Bail and Proclaimed Offenders Cell of Dwarka District on Tuesday has arrested a 39-year-old man who had been evading trial in a case related to cruelty against women and was declared a proclaimed offender by a Delhi court.
The accused, identified as Anil Kumar, son of Naresh Kumar and a resident of Kaliawas village in Jhajjar, Haryana, was declared a proclaimed offender on July 10, in connection with FIR No. 395/2019 registered under Sections 498A and 34 of the Indian Penal Code at Dabri Police Station.
The order declaring him a proclaimed offender was passed by Subhi Gupta, Judicial Magistrate First Class (Mahila Court), South-West District, Dwarka Courts, Delhi.
According to the police, a dedicated team was constituted on the directions of Dwarka Deputy Commissioner of Police Kushal Pal Singh, IPS, to trace and apprehend proclaimed offenders. The team was headed by Inspector Harish Kumar and comprised Head Constables Rahul Yadav and Kulwant. The operation was conducted under the supervision of ACP (Operations) Subhash Malik.
Police said that on August 23, the team received specific information that Kumar, who had been evading trial, was present in and around Birohar village in Jhajjar.
Acting on the information, the team reached the village and laid a trap. The accused was subsequently apprehended, police said.
The police stated that there was no previous criminal involvement listed against Kumar.
Meanwhile, on August 29, South-East District Police had claimed to have solved a blind murder case with the arrest of a 64-year-old man and his associate in connection with the killing of a 38-year-old man, who was the son of one of the accused.
The accused were identified as Talukdar Ansari, 64, and Md Wasim alias Akram, 49. Police had said the victim, Gul Hasan, was taken to an abandoned container on the pretext of being taken to a doctor, where he was assaulted and strangled.
