Rahul Gandhi Detained During Congress Protest Outside PM's Residence

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, along with Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, and several party MPs, led a protest march towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence in New Delhi, demanding accountability over recent developments concerning student protests and calling for the Prime Minister's resignation.  As the protesters attempted to march towards the Prime Minister's residence, Delhi Police stopped them, citing security restrictions in the high-security zone. A confrontation followed, during which Rahul Gandhi and several other Congress leaders were detained and removed from the protest site. Videos released by the Congress party showed Rahul Gandhi being physically escorted away by security personnel.  Following the incident, Congress shared photographs showing Rahul Gandhi with a nosebleed, alleging that he sustained the injury due to manhandling by police during the detention. The party accused the authorities of using excessive force against peaceful protesters and termed the action an attack on democratic rights.  The government rejected these allegations. Union Minister Jitendra Singh stated that discussions had been held with Rahul Gandhi before the protest, but claimed the Congress leader kept changing his demands and was intent on creating a confrontation rather than reaching a resolution.  The incident has intensified the political confrontation between the ruling BJP and the Congress, with the opposition accusing the government of suppressing dissent, while the government maintains that police acted to enforce security protocols around the Prime Minister's residence.
