Rahul Gandhi to interact with students in Indore

Bhopal, Aug 29 — Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi is set to hold a direct dialogue with students and youth at the ‘Chhatron ki Goonj’ programme in Indore.

The outreach event will focus on issues concerning the younger generation, including education, employment opportunities, paper leaks in examinations and rising fees.

Indore City Congress Committee President Chintu Choukse has formally written to the Commissioner of the Indore Municipal Corporation seeking permission for the venue. The city Congress unit has requested complete reservation of Nehru Stadium from September 12.

Choukse said the programme is expected to draw a large number of students and youth from Indore and neighbouring districts. Given the scale of participation, Nehru Stadium has been identified as the most suitable venue. The multi‑day reservation would allow organisers to complete formalities, set up infrastructure and ensure safety protocols before the event.

Rahul Gandhi is expected to listen to concerns and discuss issues dominating campus and employment conversations. Paper leaks in competitive examinations and the financial burden of higher education fees have emerged as major talking points.

A meeting was also organised at state Congress president Jitu Patwari’s house in Indore. Choukse said the party expects around 50,000 students. He added that while Jabalpur was initially considered, Indore was finalised as the venue since it is an education hub and can accommodate more students from across the state.

City Congress leaders believe the programme will provide young citizens an opportunity to voice aspirations and challenges directly to a national leader. Once permission for the stadium is granted, detailed arrangements for logistics, crowd management and security will begin.

The event is being closely watched as one of the more structured student‑focused interactions planned by the Congress leadership in Madhya Pradesh. With the reservation request submitted, attention now turns to the civic administration’s response and preparations leading up to the programme in early September.
