Jaipur, Sep 29 — Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma has approved development works worth Rs 57.41 crore for 30 Agricultural Produce Market Committees (APMCs) across the state to strengthen agricultural marketing infrastructure and improve connectivity for farmers.
The approved projects include constructing market yards, installing electrical infrastructure within mandi premises, building approach roads, and repairing damaged road networks connecting agricultural markets.
The move is expected to improve basic amenities for farmers and traders while streamlining the transportation and marketing of agricultural produce.
According to official information, the development works will be undertaken at agricultural produce market committees in Bajju, Nokha, Khajuwala and Shri Dungargarh in Bikaner district; Palsana in Sikar; Jaisalmer; Pratapgarh; Mandawari and Mahwa in Dausa; Baran, Nahargarh and Samraniya in Baran district; Uniyara and Niwai in Tonk; Sadulpur in Churu; Bijaynagar in Beawar; Ridmalsar in Sri Ganganagar; Kapasan in Chittorgarh; Didwana; Bhinmal; Madanganj-Kishangarh; Degana; Kama in Deeg; Nagaur; Grain Market Udaipur; Sikar; Chaumahla in Jhalawar; Grain Market Kota; Gharsana in Sri Ganganagar; and Sangaria in Hanumangarh.
Officials said enhancing infrastructure at APMC premises has been a priority for the state government, as better facilities directly benefit farmers bringing their produce to markets. The proposed construction of market yards and electrical infrastructure is expected to create improved trading conditions and strengthen the overall agricultural marketing network.
The government also expects the road projects to boost connectivity between villages and market yards significantly. Improved approach roads and repairs to damaged stretches will ease the movement of agricultural produce from farms to mandis, reducing transportation difficulties faced by farmers, particularly during peak procurement seasons.
Officials said that better infrastructure and connectivity would encourage higher arrivals of produce in regulated markets, improve trading efficiency and contribute to increased market revenue. The projects are also expected to support rural economic activity by creating stronger links between agricultural production centres and major trading hubs across Rajasthan.
The approval comes as the state continues to improve agricultural infrastructure and expand facilities to support farmers and strengthen market operations.
