Jaipur, Aug 18 — Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma said Rajasthan is steadily becoming safer and moving toward a crime‑free state through sustained government efforts and active public participation.
He said young members of Community Liaison Groups (CLGs) and Suraksha Sakhis, women volunteers working to promote safety, are playing a pioneering role in fostering social harmony and strengthening law and order through cooperation and coordination.
On Tuesday, the Chief Minister interacted with young CLG members and Suraksha Sakhis at Birla Auditorium in Jaipur. He said active participation by society, alongside the police, is essential for Rajasthan’s development. He urged women and youth to join forces to combat substance abuse and cybercrime effectively.
During the event, the Chief Minister unveiled the Women’s Safety Pledge Campaign booklet. Suraksha Sakhis and young CLG members from across the state shared their experiences and suggestions.
Sharma called upon them to embrace their responsibilities as a commitment to social service and public safety.
He said the state government is working for the welfare of all sections of society while following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guiding principle of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas (Together with all, Development for all).
With farmers, youth, women, and low-income people at the centre of its efforts, the government is working towards the goal of a Developed Rajasthan‑2047.
The Chief Minister emphasised that youth are the architects of the nation’s future and that their positive energy must be channelled towards nation‑building. He encouraged young people to read the biographies of great personalities and draw inspiration from their dedication, sacrifice, and ideals.
He urged Suraksha Sakhis and young CLG members to contribute not only to crime prevention but also to traffic management, blood donation campaigns, tree plantation, promotion of sporting talent, and addressing the concerns of senior citizens. He said members who perform exceptionally well would be honoured.
The Chief Minister noted that the Youth CLG initiative covers young people aged 18 to 29, with appropriate representation from all sections of society. More than 61,000 youth CLG members have been selected so far at the beat level, over 11,000 at the police station level, and approximately 2,000 at the district level across Rajasthan.
Sharma described the Suraksha Sakhi scheme as an important Rajasthan Police initiative to enhance the safety of women and girls. Between 20 and 30 Suraksha Sakhis have been selected for each police station, with approximately 22,000 selected across the state so far.
The initiative includes ASHA Sahyoginis, Anganwadi workers, ANMs, teachers, principals, and other female staff members. The Chief Minister said Suraksha Sakhis' role is not limited to providing information; they also have an important responsibility to foster confidence and a sense of security among women.
The Chief Minister called upon young CLG members to actively work to keep young people in their communities away from substance abuse and to raise awareness about women’s safety, cybersecurity, and traffic rules. He said substance abuse not only destroys a young person’s future but also affects their family and society.
He stressed that the goal is to ensure that Rajasthan’s youth remain free from drugs and crime and become healthy, aware, and responsible citizens capable of taking on leadership roles. Sharma said CLG members serve as a strong bridge of trust between the police and the public.
He noted that even a small piece of information can help prevent a major incident. He urged CLG members to undertake prudent and impartial mediation and reconciliation, wherever appropriate, in minor disputes, neighbourhood quarrels, and verbal altercations at the local level.
The Chief Minister reiterated that the government follows a zero-tolerance policy towards criminals while remaining sensitive to the general public. He said the government is committed to dealing firmly with lawbreakers while ensuring that victims are treated with dignity and sensitivity by the police.
Sharma said his government constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to take action against those responsible for examination paper leaks. The SIT has arrested 569 people in connection with paper‑leak cases. He said 410 examinations have been conducted during his government’s tenure so far without any paper leaks.
Appointments have been made to more than 189,000 posts, while recruitment is underway for more than 122,000 posts. Preparations are also being made to recruit for more than 70,000 additional posts.
In addition, the private sector has created approximately 450,000 employment opportunities. The Chief Minister said the state has distributed 1.4 million bicycles to encourage girls’ education, while providing scooters to 46,000 meritorious female students.
Under the Ma Voucher scheme, the government has issued more than 482,000 coupons to provide free sonography services to pregnant women.
Meanwhile, by bringing more than 1.9 million women into the Lakhpati Didi category, the government is working to strengthen women’s economic empowerment and enable them to become financially self‑reliant.
