Jaipur, Aug 24 — The Department of Drugs has taken strict action against pharmaceutical establishments in Jaipur after inspections uncovered serious irregularities in the sale and record‑keeping of medicines. One drug licence has been cancelled with immediate effect, while four others have been suspended for periods ranging from 14 to 30 days.
The action was taken under the directions of Principal Secretary (Medical and Health) Gayatri Rathore and the guidance of Drug Commissioner T. Shubhamangala and Drug Controller Ajay Phatak. Drug Control Officer (Jaipur) Madan Mohan Singhal, along with a team from Sanganer Sadar Police Station, conducted inspections of various pharmaceutical establishments.
Officials examined medicine sales records, Schedule H and H‑1 drug registers, sales bills, stock registers, pharmacist attendance and other statutory documents. Following the inspections, show‑cause notices were issued to the concerned licence holders. After examining their responses and verifying violations, the department took action under the applicable rules.
The drug licence of Shri Shyam Medicos, Govindpura, Sanganer, was cancelled with immediate effect due to serious irregularities, deficiencies in record‑keeping and failure to produce required sales bills and other records.
The department also suspended the licences of four other medicine sellers:
Abhi Medical and General Store, Tonk Road, Goner Mod, suspended for 21 days
Devesh Medical Agency, Suman Vihar, Vatika Road, suspended for 14 days
Shubham Medical and General Store, Vatika Road, Shriram Ki Nangal, suspended for 21 days
Balaji Medical, Muhana Mandi area, suspended for 30 days
Officials said strict action will continue against establishments found violating regulations governing the sale of Schedule H, H‑1 and other controlled‑category medicines.
Compliance will be monitored particularly with respect to valid sales bills, proper record‑keeping, maintenance of prescribed registers, availability of registered pharmacists and other mandatory documentation.
The department stated that such inspections are aimed at ensuring the availability of safe and quality medicines to the public and preventing unauthorised or improper sale of regulated medicines.
