Remembered as 'People's President': Andhra Governor, CM pay tributes to Abdul Kalam

Amaravati, July 27 — Andhra Pradesh Governor S. Abdul Nazeer and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday paid tributes to Bharat Ratna Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, the former President of India, on his death anniversary.

The Governor said Dr Kalam, popularly known as the "Missile Man of India", dedicated his life to the progress of the nation through science, innovation, and education. His vision and ideals will continue to inspire generations, the Governor said.

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu paid tribute to Dr Abdul Kalam, honouring the immense scientific and technological achievements he brought to the nation. “Distinguished by his simplicity, integrity, and humanitarian outlook, he was affectionately known as the 'People's President'. I offer my respectful homage to this great visionary on this day,” the Chief Minister said in a social media post.

Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan said the former President left behind a vision that continues to shape the destiny of the nation.

“Some individuals leave behind achievements. Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Ji left behind a vision that continues to shape the destiny of a Nation. On his death anniversary, I pay my humble tributes to Bharat Ratna Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Ji, the Missile Man of India, an eminent scientist who strengthened India’s space and defence capabilities through ISRO and DRDO, the 11th President of India, an inspiring teacher, and one of the greatest nation-builders of modern India,” the Jana Sena leader said.

“He taught us that the true strength of a Nation lies in the character, knowledge, innovation, and dreams of its people. Through his life of simplicity, humility, and unwavering dedication, he inspired millions of young minds to believe that every dream, when backed by hard work and purpose, has the power to transform the Nation. As he profoundly said, “Dream, dream, dream. Dreams transform into thoughts and thoughts result in action.”

Pawan Kalyan called for honouring Dr Abdul Kalam’s timeless legacy by nurturing young minds, embracing innovation, serving the nation with integrity, and working together to build the developed Bharat he envisioned. “That will be the finest tribute to a man who dedicated every moment of his life to India’s progress. His dreams continue to inspire. His vision continues to guide. His legacy will illuminate Bharat for generations to come,” the Deputy CM added.
