New Delhi, Nov 4 — The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on Wednesday launched the Network Anubhav Platform, a geospatial and analytical dashboard for consumer-generated network test results, TRAI's independent drive test data and a web-based interface for Do Not Disturb (DND) services.
The Ministry of Communications said the platform integrates data from TRAI's MySpeed and MyCall applications and delivers insights into network performance for consumers, telecom service providers (TSPs) and the regulator.
The geo-spatial dashboard enables users to view cellular and fixed broadband test results by service provider and technology type, based on parameters such as download and upload speeds.
Consumers can navigate maps, zoom into specific locations and use filters, legends, supporting tables and downloadable reports to analyse network performance.
Geo-Spatial maps use filters, legends, supporting tables and downloadable reports to interpret the displayed results.
The platform reports percentile values calculated from tests conducted by users. These include the P50 median speed, where half of recorded tests achieved at least the displayed speed, the P80 value for mobile broadband, where 80 per cent of tests achieved the speed or higher.
It will also show P90 value for fixed broadband, where 90 per cent of tests met or exceeded the reported speed.
The maps also facilitate a geospatial appreciation of independent drive tests for various locations. Collectively, these data sets and their geospatial visualization provide valuable information to users about the experience of other users and results of independent drive tests.
“The Network Anubhav Platform brings greater transparency to observed network tests conducted by Consumers and TRAI. It empowers consumers to analyse location and service provider specific tests, enables TSPs to identify areas for network optimisation and strengthens TRAI’s efforts for network improvement,” said Anil Kumar Lahoti, Chairman, TRAI.
Aggregated results from TRAI Apps, web interface, and Independent Drive Tests are available on the Network Anubhav dashboard. Consumers can view location-specific results of tests conducted by other users, the statement noted.
Telecom service providers can view data of call quality, coverage and internet tests conducted by consumers through a secure interface. Along with location, date, time, and values of technical parameters, TSPs can identify geographic locations for further analysis and can use it for network improvement.
