The Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2025 continues to offer fans a thrilling mix of big scores and close fights. On Sunday, the clash between New Delhi Tigers and Outer Delhi Warriors turned out to be yet another high-scoring entertainer.
Playing at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi Tigers registered a 40-run win after putting up a mammoth total on the board and then successfully defending it with disciplined bowling.
Tigers Set a Huge Target
After being asked to bat first, the New Delhi Tigers had a shaky start. Their opener Dhruv Kaushik was dismissed early, scoring just 5 runs off 6 balls. But what followed was a record-breaking partnership between Shivam Gupta and captain Himmat Singh, which changed the game completely.
The duo added 164 runs for the second wicket, providing a solid base. Although the Tigers lost a few quick wickets in the latter overs, Keshav Dalal’s quickfire 19 runs from just 9 balls helped them finish strong at 222/7 in 20 overs.
Anshuman Hooda Shines with the Ball
Even though the Tigers dominated with the bat, the bowling highlight of the match came from Anshuman Hooda of Outer Delhi Warriors. He impressed everyone by taking 5 wickets, ending with excellent figures of 5 for 51 in his 4 overs — a rare achievement in T20 cricket.
Warriors Start Well, But Fall Short
In reply, Outer Delhi Warriors began their chase with fire. Openers Priyansh Arya (26 off 15) and Sanat Sangwan (48 off 42) added a quick 69-run partnership in just 5.4 overs, giving their team early hope.
But the middle overs turned the game, as the Warriors lost wickets at regular intervals and found it hard to maintain the scoring rate.
Despite these efforts, the required run rate kept climbing, and in the end, the Warriors could manage only 182/4 in 20 overs, falling short by 40 runs.
