IND VS ENG 4th Test: Anshul Kamboj Set to Make Debut? Pacer Spotted Bowling in Full Throttle During Nets

Anshul Kamboj might be in line for a Test debut as India gears up for a must-win match in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy.

With just a few days left before the fourth Test starts in Manchester on Wednesday, July 23, India’s latest squad addition, Anshul Kamboj, is already attracting attention. During a net session on Monday, July 21, Kamboj was seen bowling with impressive pace and control, showcasing his complete run-up and rhythm. A clip from the session has surfaced on social media.

Will Kamboj make his Test debut for India?

Kamboj gained recognition during the India A series against England Lions earlier this year, taking five wickets in three innings. His consistency and work ethic impressed the selectors. He was called up to the senior squad as a replacement for Nitish Kumar Reddy, who is out due to a knee injury.

His potential inclusion in the playing XI seems more likely due to fitness issues among key bowlers. Akash Deep, who stood out in India’s second Test victory at Edgbaston, is reportedly dealing with an injury.

Moreover, Arshdeep Singh hurt his bowling hand during a recent net session and is uncertain for the upcoming match. These developments could create an opportunity for Kamboj to wear the Indian Test cap for the first time if the team management decides to strengthen the pace attack.

England leads the series 2-1 ahead of the critical fourth Test.

As the fourth Test approaches, England holds a 2-1 advantage in the five-match Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. They won the first Test at Headingley and the third at Lord’s, while India made a strong comeback, taking the second Test at Edgbaston.

In the last match at Lord’s, India faced a relatively achievable target of 192 runs in the fourth innings, but their chase fell short due to poor shot selection and England’s disciplined bowling. Ravindra Jadeja performed well with a resilient 61 off 118 balls, but he lacked support from the rest of the lineup as wickets fell consistently.

Now, with the series at stake and injuries affecting key players, India hopes that rising stars like Anshul Kamboj can step up and make an impact in Manchester.
