Iran-Israel-US War Escalates Across Middle East

Fresh missile strikes and explosions have been reported as the Iran-Israel-US conflict continues to intensify.

The war between Iran, Israel and the United States has entered a dangerous phase after a series of air and missile strikes across the Middle East. Reports indicate that the conflict began with joint US-Israeli military attacks on Iranian targets on 28 February 2026, which reportedly resulted in the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and several senior officials. In retaliation, Iran launched missile and drone attacks targeting Israel, US bases and Gulf states, while explosions and air-raid sirens were reported in several cities across the region. The fighting has also disrupted shipping routes and energy supplies around the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important oil transit corridors.

The Editorial Team of Behind The Headlines reports that the conflict has rapidly widened, with the United States carrying out thousands of strikes on Iranian military sites while Israel continues targeting infrastructure linked to Tehran’s defence network. Iran has responded with missile attacks on American facilities and Israeli territory, raising fears of a broader regional war. Military officials say more than 5,000 targets have been hit during the ongoing campaign, while several naval vessels and missile sites have been destroyed. Analysts warn that continued escalation could destabilise the entire Middle East, disrupt global oil markets and trigger a prolonged geopolitical crisis affecting energy supply, trade routes and international security.
