Reliance To Back First New US Oil Refinery In 50 Years

Reliance Industries is set to back a new oil refinery project in Texas announced by the US government.

US President Donald Trump announced that a new oil refinery will be built in Brownsville, Texas, marking the first major refinery project in the United States in nearly 50 years. The facility will be developed by a company called America First Refining with investment support from Reliance Industries. Trump described the initiative as a “historic” deal worth about $300 billion and said the refinery would strengthen America’s energy production, support domestic fuel supply and create thousands of jobs in South Texas.

The Editorial Team of Behind The Headlines reports that the refinery is planned near the Port of Brownsville along the Texas Gulf Coast and is expected to process large volumes of American shale oil. Early reports suggest the facility could refine around 160,000 barrels of oil per day and operate under long-term agreements for crude supply. Experts say the project could increase US refining capacity and boost exports of petroleum products to global markets. Analysts also note that the announcement comes at a time of volatility in global oil prices and rising geopolitical tensions affecting energy supply chains.
