Owaisi seeks independent report on ‘serious situation’ at China border

Hyderabad, Oct 23 — AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi on Friday demanded that a comprehensive and independent report should be presented before the country on the serious situation at the China border.

The Hyderabad MP said that even a special session of Parliament be convened to discuss the situation and the current government’s policy towards China.

He also demanded Modi government to issue a clarification on the number of places in Arunachal Pradesh where Chinese troops have intruded.

The MP said that the confirmation by the Director General of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) of the situation on the Arunachal border with China is extremely concerning, particularly because of the concerted effort by the Narendra Modi government to keep the country in the dark about what has gone on.

“I have raised this issue even earlier and have not got any answers from the government. Now we know why,” Owaisi said in a post on X.

“After the ITBP chief’s statement, we need a complete clarification on the number of places in Arunachal where the Chinese troops have intruded, stopped our patrols and citizens and are refusing to leave. The country also needs to know for how many months has this gone on, and why has the government acting friendly with China during this period. Is the Narendra Modi government even capable of defending and securing Indian territory?” the MP asked.

He alleged that there has been a pattern in this Modi government to keep the people in the dark about the real situation on the border. “No discussion takes place in the Parliament, no questions are allowed, PM Modi doesn’t hold a press conference, and even when he has spoken, as in June 2020, he has claimed that there were no Chinese on Indian territory. That was obviously not true or factual,” he said.

“The serious situation on the China border needs a comprehensive and independent report that should be presented before the country. Even a special session of Parliament should be convened to discuss the situation and the current government’s policy towards China. The least that this country deserves is the truth, honesty and political accountability, when it comes to such core issues that affect the territorial integrity of India,” Owaisi added.
