Rajasthan: Doctor held for taking bribe in Rajsamand

Jaipur, July 20 — Acting on the directions of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Headquarters, the ACB unit in Rajsamand on Monday conducted a successful trap operation and arrested Pankaj Jain, a Junior Specialist (General Surgery) posted at R.K. Hospital, Rajsamand, while accepting a bribe of Rs 1,300.

The ACB Rajsamand unit had received a complaint alleging that Jain was demanding Rs 2,000 to perform surgery for the removal of a cyst near the complainant’s son’s right eye at R.K. Government Hospital.

Following the complaint, the bribe demand was verified under the supervision of Rameshwar Singh, Deputy Inspector General of Police, ACB, Udaipur Range, with the operation led by Himmat Charan, Additional Superintendent of Police, ACB, Rajsamand.

During the verification, the accused agreed to accept Rs 1,800 and took Rs 500 as part payment.

Subsequently, the ACB laid a trap and arrested Jain red-handed while accepting the remaining Rs 1,300. The Rs 500 accepted earlier was also recovered.

The accused is being interrogated, and further legal proceedings are underway. A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act is being registered, and the Anti-Corruption Bureau is conducting a detailed investigation.

The ACB has appealed to citizens to support the fight against corruption by reporting instances of bribery through its 24×7 toll-free helpline 1064 or WhatsApp helpline 9413502834.

The Bureau assured full assistance in ensuring that citizens’ legitimate work is carried out without corruption.
