India and Cyprus are working together to make their relationship stronger, especially in the tourism sector. Recently, India’s High Commissioner in Cyprus, Mr. Manish, held an important meeting with Mr. Kostas Koumis, the Deputy Minister of Tourism of Cyprus. The meeting took place in Nicosia, the capital of Cyprus.
During the discussion, both sides showed great interest in improving tourism between the two countries. They talked about special tourism projects and plans to start direct flights between India and Cyprus. This would make travel easier for tourists and help businesses in both nations.
According to a post by the High Commission of India in Cyprus on the platform X (formerly Twitter), the talks were positive and focused on working with airlines to explore direct flight routes. The meeting also highlighted the commitment of both countries to grow cultural exchanges and people-to-people connections.
The discussions also included possible partnerships in film-making, which could increase interest in Cyprus as a shooting destination for Indian cinema. Both India and Cyprus believe that strong cultural and tourism links will help bring people closer and build long-term friendship between the countries.
This meeting follows earlier talks in June, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi had an in-depth conversation with Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides. That discussion covered a wide range of topics, including regional cooperation, global issues, and how to boost ties between the two nations.
Both sides had then agreed that tourism, cultural exchange, and people-to-people bonds are key areas that can be improved. They had also discussed the importance of direct air travel, either through non-stop flights or by using connections through partner airlines. This would help more people visit each other’s countries easily, for tourism, business, and education.
India and Cyprus also see eye-to-eye on many international issues. Their shared values and long-term goals make them strong and reliable partners. Both countries want to continue working together for peace, development, and global cooperation.
Importantly, the leaders of both nations agreed to treat people-to-people connections as a powerful tool to boost economic and cultural partnerships. A special agreement called the Mobility Pilot Program is also in the works and is expected to be finalized by the end of 2025. This program could make it easier for professionals, students, and tourists to move between India and Cyprus.
At Jan Jagran Darpan, we believe such positive developments are vital steps in international friendship, and we will continue to track and report on this growing partnership between India and Cyprus.
