Tesla has launched a one-of-a-kind diner in Hollywood, California, combining a 1950s retro theme with modern technology. Located on Santa Monica Boulevard, this diner is not just a place to eat but a glimpse into the future of tech-driven dining and electric vehicle (EV) charging. With robot servers, Cybertruck-style food boxes, and 80 high-speed Superchargers, this spot is designed to serve both food and innovation.
Order Food from Your Car
One of the diner’s most exciting features is its integration with Tesla cars. If you own a Tesla, you don’t need to get out of your vehicle to order food. You can place an order using the touchscreen inside the car, either before reaching the location or while parked. Once your food is ready, it is brought directly to your car window in a box shaped like a mini Cybertruck, adding a fun and futuristic touch to your meal.
Meet Optimus: Tesla’s Robot Waiter
Inside the diner, Tesla’s humanoid robot Optimus is also part of the experience. Though still under development, Optimus has been seen offering items like popcorn to customers. This robotic presence shows Tesla’s growing interest in artificial intelligence and how robots might play a role in everyday life, including customer service and food delivery.
While Optimus and other robots at the diner are not yet fully self-operating, Tesla plans to improve and expand these features in the future. The diner already uses automated systems to help prepare and deliver food, setting the stage for more advanced robotic services soon.
A Major Charging Hub for EV Users
The Hollywood diner is also home to 80 V4 Superchargers, making it the largest urban charging station in the world. These chargers follow the North American Charging Standard (NACS) and can be used by any electric car that supports this system — not just Tesla vehicles. This makes the diner a major stop for EV users across the Los Angeles area.
Alongside food and charging, the diner also offers entertainment. Visitors can watch short movies or clips on large outdoor screens, just like in a classic drive-in theater. The food served is simple and comforting, but the way it’s ordered and delivered is what makes the experience stand out.
A New Kind of Roadside Stop
Tesla’s CEO, Elon Musk, has mentioned that similar diners could open in other cities. The goal is to combine charging, dining, and entertainment into one convenient stop, especially for people on long road trips.
With its mix of robots, automation, and digital ordering, Tesla’s new diner is more than just a novelty — it’s a look at how the roadside experience could change in an electric and tech-powered future.
