YSR was visionary leader, champion of people: Andhra Pradesh Governor

Hyderabad, July 8 (IANS) Andhra Pradesh Governor S. Abdul Nazeer, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and other leaders paid tributes to Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, former Chief Minister of United Andhra Pradesh, on his birth anniversary, calling him a visionary leader.

Governor Abdul Nazeer said Dr YSR was a visionary leader and a champion of the people and implemented several people-friendly welfare schemes and developmental initiatives.

“His dedication to the welfare of farmers, the weaker sections of society, and the underprivileged left a lasting impact on the lives of millions. His life and work remain an example of dedicated public service and visionary leadership,” he said.

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy paid tributes to the late leader and said that the welfare programmes introduced by him remain etched in everyone’s hearts.

The CM lauded the services rendered to the destitute and the path of welfare shown by him, noting that they would be remembered forever.

The Chief Minister, along with Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, Nalgonda MP Raghuveer Reddy, and Ramagundam MLA Raj Thakur, paid tributes to the portrait of YSR at his Jubilee Hills residence.

Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka offered floral tributes and paid grand homage at YSR’s statue located at the City Centre in Panjagutta in Hyderabad.

Vikramarka said that YSR was a great leader who still lives forever in people’s hearts. He participated in YSR Jayanti celebrations and cut the cake.

Speaking on this occasion, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the welfare programmes implemented by the former Chief Minister continue to serve as a model for the entire nation even today.

Vikramarka praised him as the great leader YSR, who made the welfare of the poor the primary goal of governance.

He stated that the padayatra undertaken by YSR to understand the problems of the people established him as a people’s leader. He said that YSR will go down in history as a leader who empathised with the common people and formulated welfare policies in line with their needs.

He said that schemes such as Aarogyasri, 108 emergency services, Indiramma houses, social security pensions, fee reimbursement for students, free electricity for farmers, and Pawala Vaddi loans for women have provided assurance to lakhs of poor families.

Vikramarka said that signing the free electricity file for farmers immediately after taking the oath as Chief Minister is a testament to YSR’s commitment to farmers. He stated that the welfare of farmers, the poor, and weaker sections was the central focus of his governance. YSR’s life and perspective on public service are inspirational for today’s generation, he said.

Minister Sridhar Babu, government advisor Mohammed Ali Shabbir, Planning Commission Vice Chairman Chinna Reddy, MLA Danam Nagender, former MP KVP Ramachandra Rao, and others participated in this programme.
